The mission of the United States Marine Corps:

• The seizure or defense of advanced naval bases and other land operations to support naval campaigns;
• The development of tactics, technique, and equipment used by amphibious landing forces in coordination with the Army and Air Force; and
• Such other duties as the President may direct.

The Marine Platoon at the Naval ROTC unit at Georgia Tech is designed to prepare officers who can lead Marines in order to accomplish these missions. Marine Option midshipmen from the Georgia Tech unit and the Morehouse College unit come together to form the NROTC Atlanta Marine Platoon.
